Building Stronger Communities in Marion Bridge & Area

A volunteer-led nonprofit supporting local initiatives, fostering community growth, and serving Marion Bridge and surrounding areas with integrity and care.

The Marion Bridge & Area Community Development Council (MB Council) is a volunteer-driven, not-for-profit organization registered with the Nova Scotia Registry of Joint Stocks. It serves the communities of Marion Bridge, Grand Mira North, Grand Mira South, Sandfield, Hillside, Huntington, and Trout Brook.

Its core purpose is to strengthen social and community development across these areas. To achieve this, the Council focuses on:

• Supporting community-based initiatives and organizational goals
• Maintaining confidentiality and following safety policies
• Acting as ambassadors for the community

Key responsibilities of the Council include:
• Fundraising to support programs and facilities
• Planning and organizing local events
• Delivering community programs and services
• Providing board governance and oversight

A central role of the MB Council is managing the operation and maintenance of the Marion Bridge Community Hall, ensuring it remains a functional and welcoming space for community activities.

Key Responsibilities

Program & Service Delivery:

Support the organization’s mission by engaging with stakeholders and helping ensure the community facility is managed, maintained, and operated in a safe, effective, and responsible manner.

Fundraising & Events:

Plan, promote, and execute community events, fundraising campaigns, and charitable initiatives (e.g., Mira Gala, community dances, and other local events).

Operations & Administration:

Assist in the development, documentation, and implementation of Council policies, procedures, and activities in an efficient and timely manner.

Governance & Leadership:

Participate on committees and contribute to strategic planning, financial stewardship, operational oversight, and risk management.

Compliance & Safety:

Adhere to organizational by-laws and policies, maintain confidentiality, and participate in required training to support a safe and compliant environment.
